PLoS - Public Library of Science

I designed, coded, converted, organized, and centralized hundreds of Perl templates; constructed prototypes; and developed use cases and user flows while working within a multidisciplinary team developing dynamic journal sites, web applications, and content management systems. I worked with HTML, CSS, XML, XPATH, mod_perl, Perl, Template Toolkit, Apache, and Oracle; and designed and built the Perl template structure that runs dozens of journal sites, including BioOne. I also worked on many of the Perl modules that run between the database and template structure.

The website shown above, PLoS Biology, is one of many sites that also use a core subset of profile templates. I developed many of the Perl templates, built prototypes, and developed use cases and user flows for the profile area as well. These templates allow users to login and do a variety of tasks depending on the site, including the ability to customize content alerts, view usage reports, archive favorite articles, print articles on demand, and instantly purchase online subscriptions via PayPal instant payment notification (IPN).
